I’m Holly, whilst home is based on the South-East coast of the UK I spend most of my time in Chelmsford, Essex, studying BSc Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation at Writtle University College.
.
Prior to this I completed my Level 3 Extended Diploma Equine Management at Plumpton College (& also completed my British Horse Society Stage 2 examination in May 2016 - in case you hadn't already guessed my life fully revolves around horses.
.
Currently I work as a groom for international dressage riders, Paul and Bobby Hayler, forming part of “Team Hayler”.
.
.
However, my riding career didn’t start until I was 8yrs old when my parents booked me in for a lesson at Marcelle Tattersall’s riding school and from there I never stopped...11 years later… I finally get my own first horse, Cynthia. A 15hh, 7yr old, chestnut mare. Originally, I took her on as a full loan in late December 2016 and if you’d of asked me or anyone who knew me well enough they would never of had Cynthia as the type of horse I’d of been looking for - she was what I would consider one of the biggest gambles I ever took.
.
She came to me as a very green 6yr old having only got as far as being sat on and walked round. A year on and she is officially my own. We’ve already had an incredible year achieving so many milestones including our first cross country schooling, in-hand showing, taking lead file in the Plumpton College Annual Open Day drill ride, many long adventurous rides over the South Downs, beach rides, our move to Essex together and to top it all off our first hunting extravaganza.
.
.
She’s come on in leaps and bounds, taking in every new experience without fault whilst teaching me along the way; I’m excited for our future together and hopefully one day we’ll start our competitive Eventing career.
.
Whilst many brush aside the negatives, lest we forget, not every horse is perfect… she still hates the farrier!
