We’ve pressed Pause

Hey everyone. It's Danielle here, the founder of DVR Equestrian, and I have some sad news to share.

We are closing the doors for the foreseeable.

You may have already been aware that we’ve been particularly quiet so far this year. For those reading this that don't know, we are a small family run business, I run all areas of the business myself and my other half Tom helps at shows and over busy periods. We used to have others to support different areas of the business but we pulled back on all of that at the end of last year due to the brand's financial situation after some quieter shows at the end of the year.

We had our baby girl in May and we are adoring being parents. To run a fashion brand, even a slow fashion brand, your foot has to be firmly on the pedal to keep all the cogs turning. Taking my foot off has made me realise what a workaholic I was, and the real hours I put in to make the brand happen. I loved every second of it, but that dedication isn’t possible when I want to be a very present mum to my daughter.

Even with lots of help and people working different areas of the business, it takes management and headspace that I need to focus elsewhere at this time in my life. Children don’t stay little for long and wow am I feeling that, sat here writing with a 6 month old asleep in my arms.

I have tried to let the brand tick along but I don’t want to sit it in limbo. You know we pride ourselves on our customer service too and with juggling a baby I don’t feel I can offer the service DVR is proud to provide at this time. This is likely not goodbye forever, as I hope to re-open in the future after this season of life, but I can’t promise an idea of when.

As you all know, I take DVR very seriously, and see huge amounts of potential for the brand. We have come such a long way over the years in growing such a beautiful community and I have put so much work into improving and perfecting our products. Although if we were in a position where we had a bigger team it may have been easier to keep the brand going through this time, I am pleased that we are in the position to press pause and take the pressure completely off so I can be fully present through my daughter's young years. 

I really hope the next blog post I write will be welcoming us back and bringing you more beautiful products to enjoy. Reminiscing on our incredible journey has been a lot and i'm so proud of what we have achieved and thankful to all of you that have been a part of this amazing ride.
